The organization "FOUNDATION FOR SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT TRUST" was formed in 2005 under the strong leadership of social workers Mrs. Mukta Sarkar and Mrs. Dipali Kakaty, with an objective to uplift communities through social work.
A general meeting was held at Panjabari, Guwahati-37, where an Executive Committee was formed. The society was officially registered under the Societies Registration Act XXI of 1860 on 24/06/2005. Since then, it has been tirelessly working for the holistic and sustainable development of poor and marginalized populations in Assam.
The society organizes vocational training, health programs, environmental and income generation initiatives, cultural programs, and works actively for women empowerment — with support from government and non-government agencies.
